1. Definition
A Multilayer PCB is a circuit board comprised of multiple conductive copper patterns separated by specialized dielectric layers (Core and Prepreg), which are bonded together through a high-pressure lamination process. Difference with double-sided boards, multilayer layer PCB is indicated as 6 layer or above.

The integrity of a multilayer board depends on its stack-up architecture, which typically includes:
◈ Core: A rigid, pre-cured fiberglass-reinforced epoxy resin (e.g., FR-4) with copper foil bonded to both sides.
◈ Prepreg (Pre-impregnated): A "semi-cured" insulation layer that acts as the bonding agent, melting and then curing during the lamination process.
◈ Copper Foil: The primary conductive material used to etch circuit traces.
◈ Via Technology: Essential for vertical interconnectivity:
● Through-hole Vias: Penetrate the entire board.
● Blind Vias: Connect an outer layer to at least one inner layer.
● Buried Vias: Connect internal layers without reaching the surface.
